About Us
Who We Are
GDHS aims to bring together trans youth to cultivate a sense of togetherness and safety. This could look like drawing on the voice chat's whiteboard as calming lo-fi soothes you after a busy day, or spending the night at a moonlit Roblox café. Whether you like to utilize chat or unmute, you're welcome; GDHS strives to be an environment to hold space for these moments.
Furthermore, at GDHS, we strive to provide resources and create opportunities for trans and gender expansive homeschoolers and unschoolers. We get it--being a trans and/or gender expansive homeschooler is an experience that can feel wildly different, and, especially now, can bring up hard and confusing feelings. While part of confronting this is building community, we also work to equip our youth with resources and engage them in learning and healing workshops. GDHS, being youth-led, also involves aspiring youth in projects such as hangout-hosting and presenter-planning.
Mission & Vision
GDHS is a youth-led community dedicated to fostering connection for trans and gender expansive homeschoolers and unschoolers. We provide inclusive spaces for socialization and healing, while also offering resources, workshops and leadership opportunities that support personal growth and well-being. We envision a community where trans and gender expansive youth—especially those outside traditional school systems—are deeply connected, supported, and equipped to thrive.
Eligibility
Homeschoolers and unschoolers residing in Los Angeles County and Orange County who identify as questioning, gender nonconforming or transgender are eligible to join GDHS as youth members; members are admitted to youth platforms after approval from moderators, who assess members’ safety through an online survey. Exceptions may be made. Parents and caregivers of the youth specified are eligible to join the organization’s Facebook. For both parents and youth, a link to join may be found at genderdiversehomeschoolers.org/join.
Our Team
Currently, GDHS is led by Ceeb "CB" Ancheta, a presenter at the HSC's annual homeschool conference, facilitator of homeschool speedcubing workshops, a Youth Development Intern at the Search to Involve Pilipino Americans, and a graduate of Angels of Change's HALO---a leadership series that specifically teaches trans youth leadership. She wants gender diverse homeschoolers to know that they are loved and that a platform specifically for them is actively in the works.
